NEW Featured Wedding

The feature highlights Chris & Laurel's wedding day at Magnolia House Bed & Breakfast with fabulous photos by Laura Kay Photography. "This was my first wedding here in Clarksville. I met Chris at the Clarksville Bridal Show in January. Laurel is stationed in DC and Chris had to go to the bridal show alone. What a Good Man! I think that says something about his dedication to his sweet wife. I got to meet Laurel twice before the wedding and once was for their Engagement session. On April 23rd they got married. It was a perfectly small and intimate wedding. Chris and Laurel got married at the Magnolia House Bed and Breakfast on Madison. The weather was perfect for a garden wedding. I love outdoor Ceremonies. I love easy going couples. I love extra time and going places for Bride and Groom Portraits. The get away car was Chris's Hot Rod. With the car being red and Artillery Red in Chris's Army uniform, Laurel decided red was going to have to be the wedding color. Also coincidence that Chris loves Coke in bottles? On the Water

I LOVE these engagement photos by Laura Kay Photography! I really enjoy when local couples use local locations for their engagement sessions, but I enjoy it even more when a photographer takes that well-known location and makes it special and unique to that couple. "When Jessica and Bryan told me they wanted to take their canoe out for their engagement session, I was beyond happy. I love when couples want to do something different and fun. In case you haven't noticed, there's a brand new Featured Gown Shoot on ClarksvilleBrides.com. The shoot, by Laura Kay Photography, features gowns and formal wear from The Bride's Boutique and decor by Elements Event Planning & Design. There's also a link to a multimedia video, shot and edited by Turning Point Productions. "I wanted to shoot and edit a multimedia film that not only featured Laura's photos, but also the process of taking the photos. "I am so excited to finally show you guys what I have been working on. Clarksville Brides asked me to do a gown shoot with the Bride's Boutique and Elements Design. I was of course excited to get to work with all of them and have models and dresses for me to play with. My brain started working on ideas. The week before the location I was hoping to use fell thru so I decided to do it in my back yard with my Airstream. Crazy last minute decision but super fun. Edith, Terri, Mary Beth and myself had a design pow wow and started planning. I wanted it to feel like a laid back, happy back yard wedding. Elements set up a Lemonade table, and we hung their big paper lanterns from the magnolia tree. They also brought their old Schwinn bike. I had a little fun with arts and crafts. I made a ribbon backdrop with colored satin ribbon, I cut an entire roll of crate paper into little rectangles for our exit scene, and I made a just married sign on a piece of old wood. We used my fun orange retro office chairs and our Airstream camper. I asked Edith if she could find a few guy models because I thought that would be fun. When Edith told me one of the guys had a black Great Dane that could come I was super happy. Edith made Aiden the dog cute bow ties to wear. We had hair and makeup in my kitchen and we had a house full of 16 people. 6 models, Aiden the dog, Edith, Michelle and Khandi, one of the models girlfriends, Danielle doing video, Terri and Mary Beth, my 2 kids and myself. It was a fun day. Thanks to the models and Michelle for giving your time, we had fun and we couldn't have done it with out you." -Laura Muehlendorf, Laura Kay Photography

Oh, what to wear?

Need some help on deciding what to wear for your engagement session? Sometimes people dress matching because that is what they want, but most of the time it is because they have no clue what to wear if it is not jeans and a white shirt for pictures. Well, here is a little help to step away from the matching and have fun with your outfits.

You are not twins, nor should you dress like twins. Be comfortable so we can have fun taking pictures and not be worried about getting wrinkled. Remember real life is beautiful. Sometimes adding in a cute headband, tie, scarf or converse shoes to a plain outfit can make it fun. Engagement photos are all about who you guys are as a couple. It is about us photographing you and your fiance and the way you naturally act together. The way you hold hands, the way you look at each other and whether you link arms or snuggle. Choosing the perfect outfit will only add to the beauty of the pictures. Sometimes if couples are really nervous about what to wear I tell them to pack up a suitcase of all of their options of clothes and accessories and then I go through it all and together and we piece together outfits. You don't have to go out and buy new outfits if you don't want to spend the money. I love piecing together outfits for my clients and creating a fun outfit they didn't even know they had. There is no rule that you must choose one outfit. If you want you can change into a second outfit halfway through the session. I can tell you all of this but the best way is to show you. Here are some clothing suggestions so you can see how to coordinate and not match.
