Courtney + Devin: The Photographer

ClarksvilleBrides.com Featured Wedding: Courtney + Devin

We've posted a NEW featured wedding, highlighting Courtney and Devin's wedding day! Courtney and Devin hired Cavallini Photography to photograph their wedding day. "Courtney was a joy to work with from the beginning - very sweet and easy to talk to, and I just knew we were going to get along great right from the beginning. Courtney and Devin are so fabulous together because one of them is seriously making the other laugh at least every five minutes. They are genuinely in love and made for one another. There were so many parts of their day that had significance...Courtney and her family put so much of themselves into their day that everything about it was special. I loved that there was just a sense of joy and happiness radiating from everyone there, from the beginning of the day, all the way through the energetic reception. Best wishes Courtney & Devin! I am so happy I was there to spend the day with you and preserve so many special memories for the two of you on your big day!" -Melissa Cavallini, Cavallini Photography

Melanie & Steven: The Photographer

ClarksvilleBrides.com Featured Wedding: Melanie & Steven

We've posted a NEW featured wedding, highlighting Melanie and Steven's wedding day! Melanie and Steven hired Bethany Ann Photography to photograph their wedding day. “Melanie & Steven were married on a day that was supposed to be rainy and cloudy, but it ended up being sunny and warm. All of the details came together effortlessly.

I mean effortlessly in that from the outside, it looked as if every little item made it exactly where Melanie & Steven envisioned for months. I don’t want to downplay it. I know that every wedding requires a ton effort, blood, sweat, and probably tears, too. It’s just that, for this wedding, Melanie & Steven, and their family & friends, made the day appear, and feel effortless. A feeling of calm seemed to float in the air for everyone. It was a happy day, a day that Melanie & Steven will tell their grandchildren about...Thank you, Melanie & Steven! You two are insanely adorable with sincere hearts. It was a joy to watch you begin the rest of your lives together!” - Bethany, Bethany Ann Photography

Haley & Kyle: The Photographer

ClarksvilleBrides.com Featured Wedding: Haley and Kyle

We are loving our most recent Featured Wedding, highlighting Haley and Kyle's wedding day at The Tanglewood House. The happy couple hired Bethany Ann Photography to photograph their special day. "Haley & Kyle’s wedding day on May 4th was one of the coolest May weddings I have ever photographed. And, I mean coolest temperature wise, and otherwise! Rain brought in the temperature cool, while Haley & Kyle’s personalities & decor brought in the other part…Wedding days never, never, never seem to run on schedule. It’s no big deal, really, if the wedding day runs behind – it’s expected. Well, Haley & Kyle’s ran ahead of schedule! My second photographer and I kept talking about how smooth the entire day flowed. We loved it!” -Bethany, Bethany Ann Photography

We have a new Featured Wedding up on ClarksvilleBrides.com!! Our newest feature highlights Alisha and Chad's rustic summer wedding day on Burdoc Farms! Alisha and Chad hired Katie Wright Photography to photograph their wedding day and the pictures are GORGEOUS! "I was excited when I found out Alisha and Chad decided to have an outdoor wedding at Burdoc Farms in Crofton, KY. They are a newer venue and I was looking forward to shooting there. They had a beautiful, sunny day and got the chance to take most of their photos ahead of time. We also stole away from the reception for a few minutes and got some great sunset pictures. I love it when brides are willing to step away when the light is the prettiest to shoot. I have so many favorites from their wedding!" -Katie Wright, Katie Wright Photography

I love all the little country chic details from their wedding day, including the wedding signs made from old barn wood, their DIY burlap wrapped mason jar centerpieces, the ceremony arch made from an old tree, and more! Click here to check out this featured wedding on ClarksvilleBrides.com!

First Look vs No Look

Hey Brides! Are you planning on seeing your groom before the ceremony? This topic sparks many debates among brides & grooms, family & friends. The tradition of the bride and groom not seeing each other at all before the ceremony dates back to the time when arranged marriages were custom. Back then, marriage was a business deal between families. The bride's family didn't want the groom to see her before the wedding, possibly find her unattractive, and then cancel the wedding (aka business deal). *Side note: this is also the reason that brides originally wore a veil, to mask their appearance until after the "I Do's"

While arranged marriages are (for the most part) no longer custom, the tradition of the bride and groom not seeing each other has been passed down from generation to generation. A lot of couples still choose to wait and not see each other until the ceremony - this builds a lot of anticipation and excitement and can make the ceremony more memorable. BUT some couples have modernized this tradition by doing the "No Look" where the bride are groom are blindfolded or hiding around a corner, doorway, etc where they can then hold hands and say a few words, without ever seeing each other, before the ceremony. In Tristyn and Greg's ClarksvilleBrides.com Featured Wedding, Tristyn says "I was adamant that we would not see each other before the ceremony. Instead we had a 'No-look' planned that worked wonderfully. Greg was blindfolded...by his groomsmen and I was blindfolded by my bridesmaids. We were then led to a tree by them and stood back to back and touched hands around the tree prior to the ceremony. It made for some great pictures, and the touch was wonderful, but no peek!" -Tristyn & Greg Featured Wedding, ClarksvilleBrides.com

(No Look photo by Wallflower Wedding Photography)

One big wedding trend now is to drop the tradition all together and do a First Look. The bride and groom have a private meeting where they get to see each other before the ceremony. A lot of couples feel more relaxed after they've seen each other and are able to calm their nerves a little before the ceremony. In Leah and Will's ClarksvilleBrides.com Featured Wedding, Leah says "at first we didn't want to do that [a first look], but after talking with Shea [Leah & Will's photographer] we decided it was best to go on and do it; that way when our ceremony was over we could go straight to the party! However, looking back now, I tell future brides to do a first look regardless, because it's so magical and sweet, and 200+ people aren't staring at you during that moment." -Leah & Will Featured Wedding, ClarksvilleBrides.com

(First Look Photo by Shea)

Whether or not you choose to see your groom before the ceremony, just make sure it's what you two want. Don't feel pressured either way, because at the end of the day, it's about you and your soon-to-be husband and what makes you two happy.

Tristyn & Greg: The Photographer

ClarksvilleBrides.com Featured Wedding: Tristyn & Greg

We have a new Featured Wedding up on ClarksvilleBrides.com!! Our newest feature highlights Tristyn and Greg's gorgeous spring wedding day, photographed by Wallflower Wedding Photography. “What a wonderful couple and family to photograph and video. From the moment we arrived we were just so impressed with how beautiful everything was set up and how polite and friendly everyone was. Probably the biggest challenge for us was communicating to ensure we kept the bride and groom from seeing each other before the ceremony and still capture some great images. We also, of course, really felt it was so special that the bride took the time to pay respect to her late brother, PFC Johnathon Hall, during the ceremony. It was a beautiful setting for a great couple and family and we are glad we had the opportunity to capture their special day.” -Bill & Shel, Wallflower Wedding Photography

In our Q&A, Tristyn tells us all about her special day and gives some advice to future brides. "One piece of advice I would like to give all new brides is to please remember to cherish your wedding day, because it only comes one time, and not only is it special between the bride and groom, it’s special between the families." -Tristyn, ClarksvilleBrides.com

Leah also shared her list of wedding vendors with us. The happy couple hired Photography by Shea to photograph their wedding day. “I just LOVE this couple and had so much fun documenting their wedding. My favorite part of the day was their first look. Sweet Will's heart was just pounding and he grabbed Leah's hand to feel his chest. It really makes the photos when couples aren't stressed about the fluff and tiny details and are relaxed enough to let their emotions show through and have FUN on their most special day!” -Shea Wright, Photography by Shea

Alicia & Mike: The Photographer

ClarksvilleBrides.com Featured Wedding: Alicia & Mike

Alicia and Mike hired Bethany Ann Photogaphy to photograph their wedding day. "Some people come into your life at the exact moment you need. Alicia told me at the beginning of our relationship that she was unsure about what to do about her wedding photography when my email landed in her inbox. I had met her at the Clarksville Brides Bridal Show in January 2011. Alicia, newly engaged as of Jan. 1 2011, was so excited and eager to plan her big day. At the time, her wedding to Mike was one of the farthest out weddings I had ever booked. I am so thankful they picked me and that they trusted me with their wedding photography! :) Throughout all of last year I got to know them, via Facebook messages, text messages, and even photographing their engagement session and a family session last year. I feel like they are more like friends than clients! I love that! After being privy to their wedding plans for over a year, I was so excited when June 2012 rolled around. I just couldn't wait to photograph their wedding! And what an amazing day it was! Alicia got ready in Tanglewood’s bridal suite & salon and she glowed from the moment I arrived, until she left for her mini honeymoon with her new husband. When Mike saw his bride for the first time, I’m pretty sure even I had tears in my eyes. If you have witnessed their love, then you know how well they mesh and how genuinely happy they are together. Not only that, their sense of style and vision really translated into every aspect of their wedding beautifully. I adored the gray suits on the guys, and the teal dresses on the ladies. Plus, pinwheels as bouquets and boutonnieres?! Yes please! I adore brides who think outside of the box. One of my favorite details was the pinwheels in her bouquet! Her cake topper had a bride & groom on it with a replica of her bouquet, pinwheels and all! So clever! And the cake, made by Covered with Icing, was delicious by the way! :)

I love how adventurous and joyful they are and it was a delight capturing their wedding..." -bethanyannblog.com

Jacqueline & Michael: The Photographer

ClarksvilleBrides.com Featured Wedding: Jacqueline & Michael

Jackie and Mike hired Elizabeth Thompson Photography to photograph their wedding day. "One of the most exciting pieces of wedding photography is being part of such beautiful and emotional moments of a couples life. I love experiencing these moments with couples and seeing how every wedding has a different dynamic because of the personalities involved. Jacqueline and Michael are full of life. They embraced their wedding with fun and laughter. Their wedding was held at Burdoc Farms, a new wedding venue in our area, and it was the perfect place for their rustic country wedding. What I loved most about this wedding was how simply tasteful and elegant everything was, with that country chic feel! From my experience, the couples who truly enjoy their day let go of the stress and pressure of making everything perfect, and let the day unfold as it will. With any outdoor wedding there are concerns, especially with the photography, but with planning and experience, photographers tackle these issues to create lasting memories. Please enjoy some of the images from Jackie and Mike’s amazing wedding! If you like my work, don’t forget to stop by my Facebook page, and hit the like button." -Elizabeth Thompson, elizabeththompsonphotography.wordpress.com
