Today is all about getting to know Gayle Howard! Gayle is the owner, cake baker and decorator of Yaya's Cake Shoppe. I was hangin' around the Yaya's site when I read this wonderful bio about Gayle and why and how she started her business:

"My Name is Gayle Howard and I've baked cakes for years, although they were just for my family and friends. After my daughter's wedding in 2009 I had so many people asking me if I would make cakes for them. Just a few months after her wedding the building materials supplier I worked for closed their doors after 130 years in business. It was then that I started thinking about how I was going to make ends meet. Things started to fall into place with the help of family and friends...With their help I decided that opening my own specialty cake shoppe could be an answer to my prayers. So we built an addition to our home to serve as my cake room. I have always loved baking...I look forward to working with you & designing a cake for your special occasion."

Tuesday Tasting

Heads up brides & grooms! Heather Noble of Covered with Icing will be at Wedding 101 tomorrow for her last Tuesday Tasting! "Come on down to Franklin and stop by for cake!" -Covered with Icing, Facebook.com

Heather will be there with cake samples and other treats. If you can't make it tomorrow, Covered with Icing also does free consultations on Mondays and Tuesdays every week and will work out schedule conflicts beyond that. NEW Cake Photos

I LOVE checking out new photos of wedding cakes - they're perfect for finding wedding inspiration and really, they're just pretty to look at! :) We have a couple new cakes from Gayle Howard of Yaya's Cake Shoppe.

This first photo (to the left) features a 4 tier square cake, consisting of yellow cake with white butter cream Icing. Yaya's decorated the cake with white swiss dots and kelly green scroll work around the bottom of each tier. The topper was made from fresh flowers supplied by the bride.

Photo number two (to the right) is of a round 3 tiered cake, each tier composed of a different flavor. The bottom tier was a white cake with raspberry filling, the middle tier was a lemon cake with lemon filling, and the top tier was a coconut cake with a coconut sour cream filling. Yaya's iced the cake with butter cream icing and decorated it with edible pearls and handmade fuchsia gum paste flowers.
